Book Reviews

Earlier in the year, the National Deaf Children's Society provided EDCS with a small grant, which we used to purchase books containing a deaf character that were then sent to local children and schools.

We received some positive feedback from both parents and schools – so we have asked for feedback from children on the books they received.

We would like to create a resource to share that contains a list of books with deaf characters that also includes reviews or comments from the children so that other children can find a book they might be interested in.

Some examples of the reviews we received are below. If your child would like to review a book they have read that includes a Deaf character, linked below are two templates that you can download and fill out – or you can keep it simple and just provide a short comment like:

• What was the book about?
• Who are the Characters?
• What was your favourite part of the Story?
• Why do you think it’s important to have deaf characters in books?

We also welcome videos in BSL to share!
